Things have been progressing well at the Living Pā site with a third week of timber driven piling under our belts. For those keeping a close eye on us, you will have noticed quite a bit of activity with a wide variety of machines on site. We have been driving piles with Richardson Drilling’s Nippon pile driving machine while also drilling bore holes to determine rock levels with Pro-Drill’s Sonic drilling rig.

All of the piles on the Living Pā are driven to rock which means that if you look at the tops of the timber piles sticking out of the ground currently you can get a good picture of what the rock contours look like underground—much like a Pinscreen toy that you might have played with growing up!

Next week we are targeting 40 to 50 piles as we progress south while also preparing for the construction of the retaining wall that we will be building at the southern end of the site to improve the seismic resilience of the existing Glasgow Street wall.

We hope you enjoy seeing the Living Pā forest grow!
