Our team have always wanted to share the Living Pā’s ambitious intentions, and it is special to see our Te Herenga Waka people on the site’s signage.

It is also significant to note that the sign’s panels are made from 100 percent upcycled construction waste, as part of a fully circular low carbon initiative by a company called saveBOARD

The Living Pā is one of the first construction sites in New Zealand to use saveBOARD’s Multi-Use panels—something the team is excited to be a part of.

“The kaupapa of the Living Pā is ‘Mō te āpōpō—Creating a better future’, and the project team is making tens of thousands of conscious decisions to take a much more sustainable approach to our work”, says Rhonda Thomson, Co-Project Manager of the Living Pā. “The LT McGuinness team introduced us to the saveBOARD product. After learning about the company’s mission to upcycle building materials into reusable carbon signage the fit was clear. It’s great to see options like this on the market.”

It’s also the first time that LT McGuinness have used it on their construction sites. “We are excited to be using new products such as saveBOARD to minimise waste from our sites around Aotearoa”, says James Mclean, LT McGuinness Project Manager.

“saveBOARD is definitely an initiative we will look to take into our future projects, and we are delighted that the Living Pā project has given us the opportunity to use such a sustainable product. It’s a step in the right direction as we strive to reduce the impact of waste in construction.”

When the project is finished, the boarding will be deconstructed and recycled to be used again on future projects.
